We are a very small rescue, set up originally just to serve Montana but have begun to serve Utah as well, and MANY of our rescues come from Utah... There is an adoption fee for the dogs that come through our organization - even though we are all volunteers and do not receive pay, we have expenses for the dogs - vet bills, board fees are huge even with discounts that the kennel gives us, transport is not always free, sometimes we provide feed for foster homes, even printer ink - but we keep everything to a minimum, including our adoption fees. Our "standard" fee is $275, it may be less for a dog who will require meds or is significantly older, would be more for a puppy, usually $400, etc. We do require adequate fencing - yes, these dogs like to roam - and that is the point of the fencing requirement.
